For those business users still on Oracle Discoverer, the clock has been ticking down since 2016. Last June 2017, extended support for Oracle Discoverer came to an end and sustaining support kicked in. However, sustaining support doesn’t provide nearly the amount of support that extended support did – for example, no more new patches will be released. Chipotle’s Discoverer Story
Chipotle Mexican Grill’s mission is to provide fast, healthy Mexican food alternatives. Another guiding value is empowering all of its employees to be leaders. That concept led Chipotle’s decision makers to choose Hubble by insightsoftware when they transitioned from Oracle Discoverer.
When Chipotle looked at various solutions to replace Oracle Discoverer, decision makers appreciated how Hubble put the ERP data directly in the hands of the users who needed it the most. That was a welcome change from the way things worked with Oracle Discoverer – to run a report, employees needed the IT department’s help. IT didn’t have the time and resources to deal with these requests immediately, so it could take months for reports to be built.
Choosing Hubble meant that the IT department could focus on other mission-critical tasks, such as ensuring Oracle operated the way was intended. It also meant that Chipotle could extend its financial reporting solution outside of the accounting department.
As a result of moving to Hubble, Chipotle was able to whittle down from 200 Oracle Discoverer reports to 50 Hubble reports. The ease of changing and adding filters meant that Chipotle could take redundant reports and condense them. Hubble allows users to analyze the data the way they need, giving them more flexibility. It took three months to complete the transition to Hubble, which astonished users because with other software considered it was going to easily take six months of implementation to replace their financial reports.
Chipotle was able to go live on the first day, with employees building somewhere between 10 to 15 reports on that day alone! Instead of spending time on formatting reports, analysts now spend their time actually analyzing information. As a result, Hubble immediately reduced the amount of time it takes to perform a month-end close.
And Chipotle’s path to efficiency didn’t just stop with replacing Discoverer. Since the end users had the ability to create reports themselves, they were able to take Hubble to the next level and continue improving processes by building reports that they never had the ability to get in the past with Discoverer. Overall, it was by far a much more scalable solution than Discoverer and all the other tools Chipotle’s team tried.
Thanks to Hubble, Chipotle has been able to operate more efficiently. It no longer takes months to build reports, the IT department can focus on doing its job, and there are enough power users at the company so that if one person leaves, others can still use the financial reporting solution.
